Our testing has shown the 4 standard AA batteries will last from 65-90 hours depending upon the temperature, the type of battery used and the model of USB used.
If you are experiencing lower than expected battery life, you may need to reformat your USB drive by inserting the USB drive into the computer. Then right click the USB icon and select “Format”.
If you are still experiencing low battery life, we strongly recommend that you use a SanDisk Cruzer USB. These drives have proven in our testing to be the most efficient and effective drives available. They can be purchased at Wal-Mart and most of the big-box office supply stores.
You may also extend battery life by using lithium-ion batteries. Be aware that these are more expensive. Another way to extend the battery life is to employ the “midday skip” feature which shuts the PlotWatcher off during the middle of the day.
We strongly recommend the SanDisk Cruzer USB drives. These have proven to be, by far, the most efficient and effective USB drives of all that we have tested. Additionally, they typically cost less than most USB drives! Learn more.
